Explore Yoko Ono's website and then do some research about her role in the development of performance art. This article about one of her most famous works would be work reading as well.
The artist Orlan has pushed the boundaries what what many people would consider to be art.
Think about an issue you would like to address through performance art. What are some symbols that could be used to represent this ambiguously? How would you want to combine visual images with performance to explore this topic? Design a 2 to 3 minute performance that combines some aspects of some of the artists you've encountered in the last few days.
    Day 3:
Finalize your concept for your performance, and draw a storyboard to show what will be happening. Your storyboard needs to include at least 10 images. These images must be more than just sketches; they can be executed in any 2d medium, but they need to be created from scratch by you. Here's a video that explains a little more about making a storyboard.

You also need to write a 1 page Artist's Statement describing your motivation for designing the performance the way you have. An Artist's Statement is one of the ways to express your vision through the use of written language to your audience.
    Day 4:
Combine your storyboard and Statement into a Powerpoint presentation that you will present to the class. You can including any other extra elements you want, but you must include your storyboard, and the content of your Statement must either appear in the Powerpoint, or be verbally presented to the class.
Day 5: Everyone in the class will present their presentation about the performance they have planned to the class.

The Bloom Taxonomy level this lesson targets is synthesis. Students will design and plan a performance based on their ideas, and selected influences.
In this lesson, students will watch part of the Cremaster Cycle by Matthew Barney. They will then do research in the computer lab about the history, and present state of performance art as a medium. Students will then develop a concept for a 2-3 minute performance based on an issue or topic of their choosing. This performance should address the topic through the use of metaphor. Students will write a 1 page Artists Statement describing the topic and motivations of their performance. Students will draw a storyboard describing their performance consisting of at least 10 frames. Students will then give an informal verbal presentation about their performance to their classmates.
